Who We Are
Ecologies of Learning is people learning together about communities of faith in the New York Metro Area. We try to understand how our churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples shape the city, and how changes in the city affect these communities of faith. We hope to strengthen communities of faith as contributors to city life. And we hope that our research, speaking and writing will add to both the scholarly and the public understanding of religion and cities.
EOL includes scholars, research staff, seminary and other students, clergy and lay people of all faiths, and participants from congregations and neighborhoods of Metro New York.
EOL is a project of New York Theological Seminary, a nationally recognized leader in urban theological education.
EOL is funded by a five-year grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., a national leader in religious grant-making.
We are committed to producing knowledge that is useful to religious communities and their neighborhood partners, and to including them in planning and completing the research. Please contact us with suggestions, ideas, requests, or interest in participation at eol@nyts.edu.
