Participant Observation in Ethnography

Social study has a very wide scope of objects and subjects to be studied. That is why there are so many specific sciences that are used to explain certain field of works. For example, we cans se that from one of the social study namely anthropology, we can find four branches of studies.

One of them is the ethnography that focuses on understanding chosen culture. The methods used by ethnographers can be done by living within a certain culture up to a year or even much longer.

Besides observing their culture, the ethnographers will also take role in the society by applying participant observation

method. The method can show the most possibility of motivations within a culture.

 

 
Learning the Inner Process of Certain Culture

Fields of study can be learned through varieties of aspects. In social studies, we can learn that cultures all around the world are limitless. One of the specifications in social study is the ethnographic studies.

To define ethnography, we can view it as the study of communities, cultural processes, and also social phenomena. The main goal of this study is to show the inner process of human culture.

The ethnography itself is one of the four branches of a wider study of human being which is called as anthropology. One of the most interesting parts of this study is the method where the ethnographers need to immerse into certain chosen culture.
