First Steps in Learning another Culture

The possibility for mobility is nearly limitless as long as the destination where we are going to have people who can accept you. However, to be accepted in certain place or culture, you need to make yourself acceptable. How?

It can only be done if you are learning their culture. Even if you are moving to another English speaking country, you might find some difficulties if you are not prepared well.

After knowing certain customs, perceptions, the types of foods, etc. you need also to prepare yourself on the language. Language difference will give much gap, but it is learnable.

 
 
Learning before Visiting

We can go anywhere we want to visit with the advance technology that has been provided by the technology of transportation. However, such visit will only be on the surface level if we cannot know more about the people who live in there.

If you are up to another country and blending with the people who live there, you need to adjust yourself with the new culture. On the first level, you need to do some research on the culture.

The research can be done by seeing at the perceptions of the people there on outsiders. Then you can also look at the typical foods they are providing, the social customs, etc.
